In the morning in Launceston, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, accompanied by Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers, invested the Honourable Robin Gray as an Officer of the Order of Australia which was announced in the 2024 Australia Day Honours list.
Her Excellency the Governor and Professor Chalmers were hosted on an official visit to the City of Devonport by the Mayor of Devonport, Councillor Alison Jarman.
Later in Devonport, the Governor and Professor Chalmers met with Professor Emma Lee, National Centre for Reconciliation, Truth and Justice, Federation University.
In the afternoon at Eugenana, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers visited and viewed a commemorative tree planting to mark the 40th anniversary of the Tasmanian Arboretum.
In the morning, the Ambassador of Japan, His Excellency Mr Kazuhiro Suzuki, and Madame Shiho Suzuki departed Government House.
In the morning at Government House, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers received Mr Steve Old, Chair of the Board, and Ms Christine Finnegan, Chief Executive Officer, of the Tasmania JackJumpers.
The Governor and Professor Chalmers hosted a formal dinner in honour of the official visit to Tasmania by the Ambassador of Japan, His Excellency Mr Kazuhiro Suzuki, and Madame Shiho Suzuki.
Later at the Executive Building, the Governor presided at a meeting of the Executive Council.
In the morning at Government House, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers hosted a morning tea to mark the launch of National Palliative Care Week 2024 on behalf of Palliative Care Tasmania.
In the evening at Anglesea Barracks, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers attended a dinner with members of the Anglesea Barracks Officers’ Mess.
In the evening, the Governor and Professor Chalmers hosted the presentation of the 2024 Queen’s Scout Awards and Queen’s Guide Awards on behalf of Scouts Tasmania and Girl Guides Tasmania.

In the afternoon at Government House, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers hosted an afternoon tea to acknowledge members of staff from the Tasmanian Electoral Commission.
In the evening at Government House, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers hosted a choral performance and reception to mark the fifth anniversary of the Young Voices of Hobart.
In the evening at Government House, the Governor and Professor Chalmers hosted the presentation of the 2024 Landcare Tasmania Awards.
In the afternoon, the Governor formally received the Speaker of the House of Assembly, together with a deputation of Members of the House of Assembly.
Later at Parliament House, the Governor, accompanied by Professor Chalmers, presided at the Ceremonial Opening of the 51st Parliament of Tasmania.
In the morning at Government House, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers hosted a visit by Grades 5/6 students from Richmond Primary School.
In the evening, the Governor and Professor Chalmers hosted a reception for delegates attending the Conference of the Tasmanian Association for Supervised Pastoral Education (TASPE) and Chaplaincy in Tasmania.
In the afternoon the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers received the Governor-General designate of the Commonwealth of Australia, Ms Samantha Mostyn AO.
In the afternoon in Hobart, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers attended the Sesquicentenary Celebration Concert to mark 150 years since the consecration of St David’s Cathedral.
