In the afternoon at Government House, the Governor and Professor Chalmers received Ms Hanna Pappalardo, Consul General of Italy in Melbourne, together with Mr Christian Schultz and Mr Elvio Brianese, Honorary Consul for Italy in Tasmania.

In the evening at the Theatre Royal, the Governor was represented by her Official Secretary, Colonel David Hughes, at a reception to mark the 78th anniversary of the foundation of the Republic of Italy.
