Morning

In the morning at the Salamanca Arts Centre, the Governor of Tasmania, Professor the Honourable Kate Warner, accompanied by Mr Warner, delivered an address to launch Dr Malcolm Ward's book, Love, Passion and Cruelty in Van Diemen’s Land.  George Meredith’s love letters to his wife, 1823 – 1836 on behalf of the Glamorgan Spring Bay Historical Society.

Afternoon

In the afternoon the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, His Excellency Dr Thomas Fitschen, and Dr Ilona Stölken-Fitschen arrived at Government House to stay.

International Women's Day Luncheon 2026

On Friday 6 March 2026, Her Excellency the Honourable Barbara Baker AC, Governor of Tasmania, hosted an International Women’s Day fundraising luncheon at Government House to support Tasmanian women with gynaecological cancer. More than 100 people attended the event, with all proceeds going to the Rotary Tasmania Gynaecological Cancer Project.
