In the morning at Government House, the Governor of Tasmania, the Honourable Barbara Baker, received Professor Nicholas Farrelly, State Secretary for the Rhodes Scholarship in Tasmania.

Later, the Governor welcomed staff and trainees from St Vincent Industries to undertake a tour of Government House.

Later, the Governor and Emeritus Professor Don Chalmers received Ms Heather Francis, Chief Executive Officer of the Royal Hobart Hospital Research Foundation.

International Women's Day Luncheon 2026

On Friday 6 March 2026, Her Excellency the Honourable Barbara Baker AC, Governor of Tasmania, hosted an International Women’s Day fundraising luncheon at Government House to support Tasmanian women with gynaecological cancer. More than 100 people attended the event, with all proceeds going to the Rotary Tasmania Gynaecological Cancer Project.
